An Experience in the world of Literature and Theatre

Pierian Spring is a club that brought out the best of the best in literature and theatre and shall continue to do so. Pierian Spring has been one of the prominent clubs in Christ Junior College. During the academic year 2011-12, the club organized various competitions. In the beginning, we had the extempore in which we had to pick a chit and speak about the topic for at least 2 minutes continuously. Then came the poetry and essay writing competition which brought out young Shakespeares and William Wordsworths of this era and last but not the least, spelling bee competition which was a major fun event. The club also organised workshops on theatre thrice and one workshop on communicative skills which helped the students to release their inhibition and overcome their fears and face the public with the ability to express themselves better.

The club’s theatre team performed at the Darpan Theatre Fest in which it won the awards for the best play and 1st play in proscenium and for the very first time it took part in NLS theatre fest Admit One which was truly an unforgettable  experience and a new step towards progress and growth.

We also celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and 200th birth anniversary of Charles Dickens by hosting a fest in which many colleges all over Bangalore took part in competition such as painting, sketches, poetry recitation, presentation and many more.

I am sure, many of you are looking forward to another year filled with creative, fun and frolic in Pierian Spring! Welcome to one and all!
