Wealth Out of Waste

“What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.”
― Chris Maser

In recent times, we often have to fight our government and go to various extremes to conserve and preserve our environment. We are more focused on illusionary development rather than actual sustainable development. The aim of our event, as realized by one of our 28 teams, was

“Managed to get rid of a lot of waste and generate innovative things too. ” – Shreya & Shuba

Our aim was, in fact, to make students; the future of our country realize that scrap can be used well and must be used well.  It was all done in the spirit of environment day.  We gave each of the teams the choice of any 6 out of a wide variety of materials. We had juice boxes, newspapers, paper cups, paper plates, string and straws. Using, glue and scissors, the participants had to create something innovative. They had to bring out a theme in their models.

“It stimulates our creative side. ” – Tania

The participation for the event was very high and the event was well managed and well organized, as most participants noted. It was a challenge to produce something given the limited material available, however most submissions were unique. Each team thought differently and the outcomes were quite extraordinary to look at.

“It is very novel. There are so many different things going on, so many different ideas.” – Lizzie and Hannah (Judges)

The event will also be conducted for the first years after their arrival. We wish to see their unique styles and intriguing methods of craftsmanship. The results will be declared after the juniors have taken part. We look forward to the event and hope to receive maximum participation.

About twaddle

Aspiring polymath. “I believe people who write are like tornados and cyclones. We wreck a lot of lives; for better or worse. It all depends on the people who read our work. They decide where the damage is going to be; the heart or the mind and whether it’s going to be for the good or for worse. I wish to give them the choice to decide that. I’m just going to focus on doing what I want.” - Oshin Ahlawat
