Thousands of people Battle with cancer every year. When cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, treatment is more likely to be successful. So detecting cancer early can make a real difference.

  • In India, an estimate of more than 11 Lakh 48 thousand persons get cancer every year. 
  • More than 31 lakh persons are suffering from cancer at any given time.
  • Male to Female Ratio is 48:52
  • Approximately 28% of these cancers are tobacco related.

Tobacco Related Cancer (TRC)

Tobacco increases the risk of getting cancer on certain sites. In India every year an estimate of more than 3 lakh18 thousand new TRC cases have been diagnosed and 8 lakh 59 thousand are living with this cancer.

In Karnataka more than 14,500 new TRC cases estimated. Out of which 35% in males and 16% in females.

Lung Cancer being common in TRC, every year in India an estimate of 80,000 persons have been diagnosed with lung cancer. In Karnataka it is estimated about 3600 lung cancer cases have been diagnosed.
